Vitalica Plus converts to sulforaphane in the body. Sulforaphane activates Phase ll enzymes, protecting DNA from free radicals and promoting immune system health.
This product is a plant-based supplement that contains glucoraphanin, which is extracted from broccoli seed. In nature, when broccoli seed/sprout cells break open (when the plant is damaged or eaten) glucoraphanin is released and mixes with a naturally occurring companion enzyme (myrosinase). When these two compounds meet, they form a new substance called sulforaphane (SGS).
One of the components in the human diet is a specific glucosinolate called Glucoraphanin the pre-cursor to Sulforaphane. And Sulforaphane has been identified by many scientists as the strongest known inducer of Phase II enzymes. Phase II enzymes have the ability to neutralize the chemical toxins, electrophiles and free radicals that are responsible for the initiation of carcinogenesis. This enhancement to the bodies immune system is a proactive step one can choose to follow for Dietary Chemoprotection.
Glucoraphanin is most commonly found in certain species of the Broccoli. CS Health, LLC has developed several new varities of broccoli seed, and has patented them. Our NON-GMO patented varieties were completed using conventional agricultural practices. Brassica oleracea contains high levels of Glucoraphanin.
The seed of Brassica Oleracea is natures storage cabinet for Glucoraphanin. Caudill Seed and its patented process have unlocked this cabinet and made Glucoraphanin available as a standardized dietary supplement and functional food for human consumption.
With nearly 1.8 million Americans expected to be diagnosed with cancer this year, with over 577,000 expected mortalities (American Cancer Society), there continues to be a need for innovative intervention strategies. One promising strategy is the use of dietary compounds that act as either primary protective agents by preventing, delaying, or reversing pre-neoplastic lesions, or those that act on secondary or recurrent cancers as therapeutic agents.
Compounds found in the diet are of particular interest because of their accessibility to the general population, and ongoing research continues to identify novel candidates for use in cancer chemoprevention clinical trials. Isothiocyanates are found in cruciferous vegetables such as broccoli, Brussels sprouts, cauliflower, and cabbage.
Sulforaphane (SFN) is an ITC found at high levels in broccoli and broccoli sprouts. Nevertheless, the greatest concentration of the SFN precursor is found in the broccoli seed, and in a particular variety we have developed, without genetic modification, over a twelve year period. First identified in 1992 as a potential chemopreventive agent, there has been growing interest in SFN. While earlier research focused on the mechanisms of the enzyme inhibition in Phases I and II, recent research points to SFN acting as a suppressing agent, helping to delay or reverse growth and /or survival of transformed cells.
In addition, other university and research facilities have found that SFN may have a number of additional health benefits including:
Immune System Support
Post Exercise Recovery
Countering diabetic oxidative stress
CSHealth harnesses the power of Glucoraphanin (Sulforaphane glucosinolate) in its proprietary formula, Vitalica®. Its main ingredient is BroccoRaphanin®, refined Glucoraphanin from broccoli seed. Scientists have identified Glucoraphanin as the precursor to the natural long-lasting antioxidant and detoxifier Sulforaphane.
WHEN INGESTED, GLUCORAPHANIN (BROCCORAPHANIN) IS HYDROLYZED BY THE BODY AND IS CONVERTED TO SULFORAPHANE, IN THE SAME MANNER AS WHEN STARCHES ARE INGESTED, THEY ARE HYDROLYZED TO SUGAR BY THE BODY.
IN SPITE OF SPURIOUS CLAIMS, THERE IS NO KNOWN SULFORAPHANE AVAILABLE AS A DIETARY SUPPLEMENT. IN THE U.S., SULFORAPHANE IS NOT LISTED FOR HUMAN CONSUMPTION. IN ORDER TO ACHIEVE SULFORAPHANE, A RELAIBLE GLUCORAPHANIN INGREDIENT MUST BE INGESTED.
THE CS HEALTH PRODUCT IS PROTECTED BY SEVERAL PATENTS, HAS THE ONLY APPROVED TEST METHODOLOGY, AND IS BASED ON AN EARLY ASSOCIATION WITH JOHNS HOPKINS.
WE HAVE TESTED ALL BROCCOLI EXTRACTS , SULFORAPHANE PRODUCTS, AND OTHER BROCCOLI SUPPLEMENTS FOR THEIR CONTENT OF GLUCORAPHANIN.
The only ones resulting in a positive test are those who have used our ingredient, with one exception. The particular exception is mislabeled for its content.
In 2008, the University of Illinois School Of Medicine in conjunction with the College of Food Science and Human Nutrition studied Vitalica® and outlined their findings in ?Vitalica®: Induces Phase II Enzymes in a Double Blind Crossover Study using a Single Dose of 500 mg of Sulforaphane Glucosinolate 10%. In the Conclusions and Excerpts from the Pre-Publication Clinical Trial, researchers noted some of the following about BroccoRaphanin®:
The appearance of its metabolites in the urine showed the bioavailability of Sulforaphane from the compound in human subjects.
It provides substantially more sulforaphane than sprouts alone.
Several glutathione S-transferases (GST) up regulated, following ingestion of the compound.
In short, the researchers concluded that these results show clearly that BroccoRaphanin® (the active ingredient in Vitalica®) was converted to sulforaphane, which was absorbed and caused increases in phase II detoxification enzymes.
In addition, BroccoRaphanin®:
Is wholly derived from broccoli seed which makes it suitable for vegans and those adhering to vegetarian diets.
Is non-GMO using our proprietary variety of broccoli, Brassica oleracea italica that was developed by traditional agricultural breeding techniques without bioengineering.
Is refined glucoraphanin from broccoli seed without excipients. It does not contain any of the allergens named in the US Food Allergen Labeling and Consumer Protection ACT of 2004
